Questions about the movie The Village...?

So I just got finished watching the movie The Village for the first time and I didn't completely understand it. I'm actually quite confused about the whole thing. Care to explain? Like why Noah was one of those monster beast things in the woods? Why was he trying to attack Ivy? What was his whole point in the movie? Why does it seem like the village is stuck in older times or pilgrim-looking & then when Ivy goes into the woods to get medicine, it's like the real world, modern times? I don't know, I'm just really confused. Just explain the whole movie and add details and explain things that you know may be confusing. Thank you so much!
