Xbox 360 controller doesnt charge, what should should i do?

ive had my play and charge kit for about a year now and its been acting weird for a couple months. a lot of the time, i had to move the cable at an angle while it is plugged into the controller so it would charge, i would also plug it in and the light on the end that plugs into the controller would go red for a second, then it would turn green, indicating it is fully charged. then when i unplugged it, it would die. but today i turned on the controller, and it came on and died about a minute later. i plugged in the charger and it wouldnt charge it and the light wouldnt turn on. i tried doing a lot of what people said online, like rubbing the connectors and blowing into the usb port. i dont wanna sound mean, but i want an answer to my problem, not people talking and just telling me their story without any answer on how to solve the dilemma.
