What do the DEA schedules mean?

The schedules are actually based on propensity for addictiveness. Supposedly the ones in schedule 2 are more addictive than those in schedule 3, which are more addictive than those in schedule 4. Schedule 1 are simply addictive drugs that have no recognized legitimate medical use.
