Do we know the religion of the people who were in north America before the pilgrims ?

Native Americans worshipped animals. If we did today, maybe the planet wouldn't be in such bad shape. There was no solid religion though, each tribe had different deities but for the most part they probably respected each others beliefs. I don't know why it is so impossible for people to do that now. I'm sure Indians disagreed with their rivals, it seems like more often than not, they were both able to handle them civilly.
